How To: DIY Manuka Honey Moisturiser

DIY Manuka Honey Moisturiser

Did you know that manuka honey is a natural humectant? When used to care for  your skin, it helps to draw moisture, providing a hydrating and rejuvenating effect on your skin.

We shared with you DIY recipes for manuka honey face mask, lotion and cleanser in the past. (Have you tried them? Your skin will thank you, if you do!)

Now here are two recipes for manuka honey moisturiser so that you harness the amazing anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of this special honey for your beauty.

Recipe for DIY Manuka Honey Moisturiser with Jojoba Oil

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon of manuka honey

1 tablespoon of jojoba oil

Directions:

  1.    Mix the manuka honey and jojoba oil in a small bowl or container
  2.    Stir until the mixture forms a creamy consistency
  3.    Apply a thin layer of the mixture to a clean face, like you would a mask
  4.    Wait 30 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water

Recipe for DIY Manuka Honey Moisturiser with Coconut Oil

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon of manuka honey

2 tablespoons of coconut oil.

Directions:

  1.    If the coconut oil is not in liquid form, put it under low heat to melt it
  2.    Add the manuka honey to the liquid coconut oil, and stir until the mixture forms a creamy consistency
  3.    Ensure that the mixture is cooled. Then apply it to a clean face, like you would a mask
  4.    Wait 30 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water

Both jojoba oil and coconut oil are known for their natural moisturising qualities. Coconut oil does have a stronger smell, so it comes down to preference if you’re deciding between the two recipes. Regardless of which one you choose, this DIY moisturiser is great for hydrating your skin, promoting radiance and preventing acne breakouts!
