Tea Preparations According To Its Type

Tea is popular in almost every country because of its health benefits. It became a major component of culture and tradition to others because if formed part in their medical practices, ceremonies like tea ceremonies and even beauty rituals. Tea actually comes in different varieties since they differ in their benefits, taste and preparation, too.


  • Black tea

Black tea is prepared in high temperatures and is steeped in water near its boiling point as most of the active substances in it do not develop at medium low temperature. The brewing method also differs in various places according to its altitude as boiling drops increases, making it difficult to brew in mountainous areas. For this reason, black teas in the Western regions are usually brewed for about four minutes and are usually not allowed to steep for less than a minute or more than five minutes. While in India, black tea is often boiled for fifteen minutes or longer for people there prefer a strong brew.

  • Green tea

Green tea is consumed widely in parts of the world that prefer mild beverages, such as the West and Far East. It is prepared by steeping the green tea in boiling water, but it should be noted that the higher the quality of the leaves the lower the temperature. Moreover, the container in which green tea is steeped is usually warmed in advance to avoid premature cooling.

  • Flowering tea

Flowering tea or blooming tea is supposed to be brewed in boiling water in clear glass tea wares for up to three minutes. The boiling water can help the tea ball bloom quickly and with a strong aroma of the tea. The glass tea should be tall as it is also relevant in helping the tea and flowers bloom completely.

  • Oolong tea

Oolong tea is brewed in boiling water and the brewing vessel must be warmed before pouring the water. The traditional brewing vessel for oolong tea is the Yixing purple clay teapots in which the oolong tea may be brewed for multiple times from the same leaves. But in Chinese and Taiwanese tea ceremony, the first brew of oolong tea is discarded as it is considered a rinse of leaves rather than a proper brew.
